At 9:00 a.m. on 11 May, YIU LIAN Tugboats "HAI KUN" and "HAI PENG" assisted the LNG carrier "MARAN GAS CORONIS" to dock at the Hong Kong Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal (HKLNG). HKLNG is the largest offshore LNG receiving terminal worldwide and the first offshore LNG receiving terminal in Hong Kong. The construction of the HKLNG Receiving Terminal was wholly financed by the provision of marine towing services by Hong Kong YIU LIAN Tugboats. With the first successful berthing of an LNG vessel at the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal, YIU LIAN Tugboat is fully capable of safely undertaking the offshore berthing of LNG vessels.

"HAI KUN" and "HAI PENG" are the largest tugboats in Hong Kong, with 7,000 HP. In addition to the conventional harbour tugs, they are equipped with automatic combustible gas detection and explosion-proof function, automatic cruise monitoring system, high-performance escort mode, and FIFI 2 external fire-fighting function, which are specially designed to provide services for LNG carriers, hazardous chemicals carriers and oil tankers.

"HAI KUN" and "HAI PENG" tugboats passed the layers of verification by CLP inspectors and were able to be shortlisted as LNG ship berthing and escort tugboats. The vessels have been operating ISO system, but in order to meet the HSE system requirements of LNG vessels, the department newly established the ship safety management system and operated it on the tugboats. With the joint efforts of the department and the crews, the vessels successfully passed the examination by the CLP, and gained the qualification to serve the LNG vessels.

The Hong Kong YIU LIAN Tugboat fleet has always upheld the business philosophy of safety and excellence, earnestly fulfilling its corporate social responsibility in Hong Kong and bringing quality services to its customers.
