On August 20th, a serious fuel leakage incident occurred at the Kwai Chung Container Terminal in Hong Kong. While a vessel was refueling at the dock, a large amount of fuel leaked, causing oil contamination on the surfaces of 8 vessels including "WAN HAI 171," "XIN YING KOU," and "NAVEGACES Express," rendering them unable to operate normally. After the incident, the vessels involved arranged for a Hong Kong tugboat company to clean up the oil spill. However, after two days, the cleaning results were not satisfactory, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among the shipowners of the contaminated vessels.
On August 22nd, YIU LIAN Tugs in Hong Kong stepped in to take charge. Upon receiving the task, they immediately dispatched seven tugboats including HAI AN, HAI TAI, HAI MAN, HAI YOU, and over 30 crew members to the scene. Due to the large area of pollution, simply cleaning with spray guns was insufficient to completely remove the contamination. Additionally, there were many "blind spots" on the hulls of the contaminated vessels that could not be cleaned with machines. YIU LIAN Tugs in Hong Kong employed a combination of machine cleaning and manual cleaning, mobilizing a large number of workers to operate around the clock in shifts. They also rented speedboats and fishing boats to access and clean the "blind spots" near the vessels.
In adverse conditions with rough seas, the crew members of YIU LIAN Tugs in Hong Kong maintained a meticulous and dedicated work ethic, working diligently to uphold a stable operational standard. They deployed tugboats 20 times, utilized over 100 cleaning workers, and spent 100 hours to complete the hull oil pollution cleaning for 8 ocean-going vessels. In this oil spill incident, YIU LIAN Tugs in Hong Kong responded promptly, faced challenges courageously, undertook emergency tasks, and effectively alleviated the difficulties faced by shipowners and clients, thus upholding YIU LIAN Towage's good reputation in the industry.
