Hong Kong, July 22, 2024 - Hong Kong Yiu Lian Dockyards, a leading provider of maritime services in the region, today announced the successful completion of an emergency towing operation to rescue the vessel 'IBT TANGGUH' in the Eastern waters of Hainan.

On the afternoon of July 19, 2024, the shipowner of 'IBT TANGGUH' reported that the vessel's main engine had failed, leaving it adrift and powerless in the waters near Yangjiang. Compounding the crisis, the Yangjiang area was at the time under a Level 4 typhoon warning, posing grave risks to the safety of the crew and the ship.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Yiu Lian Tugboat took swift action, mobilizing the required crew and equipment within a short span of 3 hours and completing the export procedures. To meet the requirements of the navigational area, the designated unlimited navigation area tugboat "HAI PENG" was specially dispatched to the location of the damaged vessel. In adverse weather conditions, the crew of Yiu Lian Tugboats worked tirelessly, rushing to the aid nearly a hundred nautical miles away, taking 10 hours to reach the damaged vessel before the arrival of the typhoon.

Under the skilled operation of the Yiu Lian tugboat crew, after 20 hours of towing, the “HAI PENG” successfully towed the "IBT TANGGUH" to the waters east of Dangan Islands, and anchored the rescued ship firmly in this safe position for emergency repairs.
